I'm Back, and Worse Than Ever

Quick update: I have recovered from my surgery and the errant stone. I am also down to 210 pounds. That is about 40 pounds down from my highest weight when I was pregnant with my second child. That is the good news, and I'll share how I've achieved that in a later post.

However, I am still having major joint pain and muscle spasms. My hands, especially my right thumb, my spine, my knees and my feet could replace the percussion section in a small orchestra. In itself, that isn't a problem. The constant pain, however, is. Combine that with the fact that mild exercise causes painful cramps in my back, legs and feet and I'm not a happy girl.

Since I'm only 35, and I have two young children, I have decided that this crippling pain is ridiculous and needs to go.

I consulted Dr. Swagbucks and he told me to make sure that I didn't have a mineral deficiency. I've been taking my calcium twice a day (WalMart pills in the morning, Nature's Life calcium/magnesium liquid in the evening), fish oil in the morning, cod liver oil in the evening, trace mineral drops in the evening and a multivitamin at night. So far, no difference.

So I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Facebook. Dr. Facebook recommended a lot of different things. Apparently I should cut food out of my diet. I'm supposed to avoid gluten, dairy, sugar, nightshade vegetables, processed food, all grain, and anything cooked. I am supposed to add, vitamins B6, C, and E, potassium, and magnesium. Others suggestions, check progesterone levels, have chiropractic adjustments, do various cleanses, check out Ehler-Danlos Syndrome and investigate water retention related to my "cycle."

I'm desperate enough that all these suggestions will get a turn.

I've decided to add more supplements first. Since it is Christmas goody season I think it is the easiest option right now. If I'm not better come January I will be doing the elimination diet.  It will also be easier to tell what is causing any positive improvements if I do it in spurts.

I've ordered my supplements and will start taking them as soon as they arrive.
